MARTA on Wednesday launched its new Mobility paratransit app and web platform, powered by RideCo’s industry-leading software, completing a months-long modernization of the agency’s paratransit service.
The new system went live at 6 a.m. and gives MARTA Mobility customers three ways to book, change or cancel rides: through the new MARTA Mobility smartphone app, through a redesigned web portal at book.martamobility.rideco.com, or by calling the existing call center at 404-848-4212.
The app is available for download now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Beyond the customer-facing changes, the new software fundamentally changes how the agency dispatches rides. Routes are now automatically recalculated every 20 seconds based on real-time traffic patterns, driver availability and cancellations — a system MARTA says will reduce wait times, lower operational costs, and make better use of vehicles and staff.
“This is the future of MARTA Mobility, and it went live on schedule,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood in a statement. “We’re giving our riders more ways to manage their trips, and we’re giving our operations team the tools to run a more efficient, more reliable service.”
MARTA Mobility serves roughly 1.5 million trips per year, providing curb-to-curb service for riders with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed-route bus or rail system. The service is by appointment only.
The rollout was announced in mid-June. MARTA hosted in-person training sessions at five senior centers across the metro area in the two weeks leading up to the launch to help riders transition to the new platform.
