The Atlanta Hawks promoted Onsi Saleh to President of Basketball Operations on Monday and signed him to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced.
Saleh, who served as assistant general manager last season under longtime executive Travis Schlenk’s successor Landry Fields, took over day-to-day operations of the basketball side of the franchise during the 2025-26 season. Under his leadership, the Hawks have made several aggressive moves to reshape the roster around Trae Young and Jalen Johnson.
“Onsi has earned this opportunity,” Hawks owner Tony Ressler said in a statement. “He has shown a clear vision for how this team can compete at the highest level, and he has the trust of our players, our coaches, and our front office.”
Head coach Quin Snyder has also agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the team said, ending months of speculation about his future. Snyder was entering the final year of his contract.
The moves come as the Hawks continue an active offseason under Saleh. Atlanta has acquired Aaron Wiggins from Oklahoma City and Devin Carter from Sacramento, re-signed CJ McCollum and Jock Landale, drafted Kingston Flemings and Zuby Ejiofor, and picked up Mouhamed Gueye’s team option.
The Hawks’ offseason is not over. Atlanta is reportedly still looking for a backup center behind Onyeka Okongwu and could pursue another wing player before training camp opens in late September.
The Hawks’ Summer League team continues play this week at the Las Vegas Summer League. Atlanta opens against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
