The world’s biggest sporting event has arrived in Atlanta, and the party is already underway.
The official FIFA Fan Festival opened Wednesday at Centennial Olympic Park, transforming the 22-acre green space into a vibrant, open-air celebration of international soccer that will run through July 19. The festival serves as the city’s central gathering point for fans who want to experience the energy of the 2026 FIFA World Cup — whether or not they hold a ticket to a match inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
What to Expect at the Fan Festival
The Fan Festival offers free entry on most days and features a packed schedule of programming designed to keep the atmosphere electric from morning to night:
- Giant-screen match broadcasts — every World Cup game shown live on high-definition LED screens throughout the park.
- Live music and DJ sets — local and international artists performing on multiple stages between matches.
- Cultural pavilions — interactive exhibits spotlighting the traditions, food and art of competing nations.
- Food and beverage vendors — a curated lineup of local restaurants and international cuisine options.
- Sponsor activations — immersive experiences from FIFA’s official partners, including skill challenges and photo opportunities.
“This is where Atlanta’s World Cup story is going to be told — not just inside the stadium, but right here in the park, with fans from every corner of the world standing side by side,” an Atlanta Host Committee spokesperson said.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s Match Schedule
Atlanta is one of 16 host cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium has drawn a robust slate of eight matches:
| Round | Number of Matches |
|---|---|
| Group stage | 5 |
| Round of 32 | 1 |
| Round of 16 | 1 |
| Semifinal | 1 (July 15) |
The semifinal on July 15 is expected to be the single largest sporting event held in Atlanta since the 1996 Summer Olympics. City officials and tourism leaders have spent years preparing infrastructure, transit and hospitality capacity for the moment.
Fans Are Already Showing Up
The numbers tell the story. More than 270,000 fans attended the first four World Cup matches held in Atlanta, filling Mercedes-Benz Stadium to capacity and spilling into the surrounding entertainment district.
Bars, restaurants and hotels in the Centennial Yards corridor, Castleberry Hill and Marietta Street have reported record-setting crowds on match days, with many venues extending hours and adding outdoor seating to accommodate demand.
Decatur WatchFest ‘26
Fans looking for a more neighborhood-oriented experience can also head to Decatur WatchFest ‘26, a community-organized watch party series running concurrently with the tournament. The event features outdoor screenings on the Decatur Square, local food trucks and family-friendly activities.
WatchFest organizers say the event is designed for fans who want to enjoy the World Cup atmosphere without navigating downtown traffic and crowds.
“Not everyone can get to Centennial Park every match day,” a WatchFest organizer said. “We wanted to make sure the east side of the metro had its own celebration.”
Getting There and What to Know
The FIFA Fan Festival at Centennial Olympic Park is accessible via MARTA’s Omni/Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center station. Organizers strongly encourage public transit, as downtown parking is expected to be severely limited on match days.
